5 years ago, Kanye dropped his sneaker collaboration with Louis Vuitton and had a little message for us.

Hailing from Uptown New Orleans, Cypher and Lu “Gums” Murphy are a promising up-and-coming rap duo as well as New Orleans steez spokespeople. Formerly known as Team Robot, the Crescent City conquerors decided to re-brand and change their name to Parallel – a moniker representing each one’s distinct path that run parallel to one another.

From around 1998-2000, Missy Eliott, Timbaland, Aaliyah and Ginuwine, self-dubbed the “Super Friends”, were everywhere. Aaliyah was America’s darling, Ginuwine was the self-proclaimed Bachelor and Timbaland & Missy put the “super” in Super Friends. The unique style and visuals were ahead of their time and can be credited for a few trends today (see: Drake). Always in each other’s videos, here’s some memorable cameos.

Missy, Timbaland & Magoo, and Aaliyah – “Up Jumps Da Boogie” (Why isn’t this on Spotify??)

Aaliyah – “Are You That Somebody”

Timbaland & Magoo – “Luv 2 Luv Ya”

Tyler the Creator and Odd Future served a dose of satire, in typical OF fashion, on 106 & Park last week.

Odd Future “Oldie”

“This is for the nigga in the suburbs
And the white kids with n*gga friends who say the n-word
And the ones that got called weird, fag, bitch, nerd
Cause you was into jazz, kitty cats, and Steven Spielberg” - Tyler
