Sneaker Politics‘ New Orleans location hosted “Custom Culture”, an event that featured 10 custom Vans, done by 10 different artists, and then auctioned off. All proceeds from the silent auction went to The Gleason Initiative Foundation. Each artist was sent a pair of all-white Vans that they could do whatever they wanted with. Customizing is actually how dope. got started, so it felt good to get back at it. Look at some of the cool ones from this past Friday.

TDG had the opportunity to sponsor an official SXSW showcase this past weekend in Austin, TX. Familiar faces such as LG, Le$ and Kevin Gates hit the stage to perform as we slung the dope. Thank you to everyone that came by the booth, bought something, or just stopped to say whaddup! The experience was well worth it and we can’t wait to attend again next year.

The city of ATX feels so friendly, that you might walk around at 2am in search of your car and think nothing of it. The biggest negative of the trip was the enormous amount of walking. The biggest positive was being able to see “free” shows and lineups that wouldn’t be possible anywhere else. There was little bit of everything for everyone if you don’t mind searching.

Luckily, SXSW is so huge you’re bound to run into at 10 people that you know. Was able to check out a few of the homies perform: Dustin Prestige, Dee-1, & JayKell.

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A day we’ve all seen before, but incidentally is the inauguration of President Obama’s second term. That’s something that, during Dr. King’s era, would have been unimaginable. Regardless of your political beliefs, today should inspire you to finally start those grand schemes. Dream Big. Be dope.

Yesterday marked Day 3 for NOLA Fashion Week and dope. was featured in the show at Joy Theater. The best fashion shows are fashion shows that are well planned with cool people involved and that’s exactly what happened last night. Unfortunately, there isn’t any video or photos from the show posted yet (we were of course backstage), but official footage will be up as soon as it’s available. For now, check out some of the behind-the-scenes.

Phil came along for the ride to help out and even introduced himself to everyone as “the dope. slave”. Smh

Andi making sure everyone knows what to do.
And Erica making sure everyone is actually paying attention.
Hair and make-up getting done. Almost show time…
Not sure how/why these came out like this, but the afterparty was “elegantly chill” (totally made that up) which was a perfect way to end the night.

Big s/o to The Benjamin Bear for allowing us to set-up shop this past weekend, even without it being their official open. The time there actually coincided with CIAA weekend, which is to basketball what Bayou Classic is to football. So we took to the streets during downtime at the shop to hand out a few stickers and see some sights. Charlotte is a pretty cool city that is beginning to feel like a second home.
