Sneaker Politics‘ New Orleans location hosted “Custom Culture”, an event that featured 10 custom Vans, done by 10 different artists, and then auctioned off. All proceeds from the silent auction went to The Gleason Initiative Foundation. Each artist was sent a pair of all-white Vans that they could do whatever they wanted with. Customizing is actually how dope. got started, so it felt good to get back at it. Look at some of the cool ones from this past Friday.

“The Kickback” – a short film celebrating the hallucinatory haze of youth, featuring THEDOPEGAME’s core collection and filmed by Kinfolk Collective, a collective of visual auteurs based in Chicago.

Ok, we get it. The Nike Roshe Run is originally a $70 shoe and being resold on eBay for $150+. This isn’t new; resellers did not appear overnight. The Roshe is a simple, COMFORTABLE sneaker. Couple that with a hyped colorway and there you have it. But now that NikeiD has added the Roshe to its lineup, a lot of folks are extra salty. What about the LeBrons, Kobes, or Durants? All popular and all featured on NikeiD. The problem with the Nike Roshe, is that they’re affordable (even at hypebeast/reseller prices) which makes them attainable. That’s a no-go in Sneakerdom where “you can’t get these!” is the mantra. The Roshe isn’t a marketing ploy by Nike or the “white people’s Jordan”, it’s a just a DOPE. shoe period.

A short film by Kahlil Joseph featuring music from the Flying Lotus album. (This is so dope.)

The Dope. Game’s snapbacks recently got “Slushie’d” which resulted in a sick custom snapback. Launched this year, SlushieHats has set its goal to seamlessly combine art and fashion, while remaining true to their sense of style. No templates or stencils are ever used during the design process and no two hats are the same. The two hats are being auctioned off on eBay and 20% of the proceeds from the auctions will be donated to The Red Cross. Happy Bidding.

There was a request for the wallpaper  in a photo posted to Instragram so here it is along with a few others. Thanks for the idea and enjoy.

Got crafty the other night and added a little leopard print to one of the Classic snapbacks. After posting a photo to Instagram/FB and seeing the response, we decided to put it up on eBay. It seems to be the easiest and fairest option for those interested. The auction is now live and lasts until Wednesday, April 24th. Happy Bidding!

Who Dat.

I’ve challenged myself to watch every Saints game this season. And beyond the inspiration for these customs, that has nothing to do with this post. Reg pulled off a pretty dope. Black & Gold custom with the Oreo 6′s, and even in a kid’s size. Clean-clean. Use 140 characters or less to beg him for a pair.

The otherwise quiet Shaw Center downtown was buzzin’ this weekend. Artists of all kinds, and from all over, were out and displaying their respective talents for Baton Rouge Hops: Arts Festival and Celebration of all Things Hip-Hop. Graffiti artists battled outside, breakdancers broke it down inside where we set up shop and dealt some dope. Glad to see things like this happening in Baton Rouge and even happier being apart of it. Got to meet some great people while at the booth and I’m already already looking forward to next year.

The event was catered by Tsunami. NomfugginNom.
DJ Supamike inspired this guy to showcase his cool moves to the event’s organizer, Roxie, and her friends.

Man, I loved this performance (Paige In Full). While using dance, spoken word, and video, Paige and her DJ/brother, Nick the 1da, told her humorous tale of adolescence to adulthood backed by a hip-hop beat. dooope. Check it here.

Saturday, the second day of the festival, we lucked up and got a spot indoors. If you’ve ever visited Louisiana and it’s insane humidity, you know how much of a score this was.

Shouts to Amber aka Ambananas aka King of Bananas aka Lil Dime Bag. She was down for the cause and a huge help out there.Bummed I didn’t get one of Marc Fresh‘s final piece. But here’s a couple of him working on it.

Speaking of Marc, Brad stopped by in the Never Rotten collab tee from last year.
Didn’t I tell you she was dope? Paige from Paige in Full.

Always dope, never rotten. I wouldn’t mind getting this on a shirt or sticker. Hmmmm, may be the beginnings of a series…
